This is a listing to make a deposit on getting a custom fabric tail made, this does not include the full cost of the tail. Please read the entire description.
Almost all of the tails i make start with a base of durable, long lasting, chlorine resistant Aqualife pbt swimwear fabric, and are then lined with a double layer of swimwear spandex, which not only provides a ‘spanxing’ effect for smoothness and svelte fit, it also prevents any see through to panty lines or skin tones, as can often happen as soon as a material gets wet. Your tail will stay vibrantly colored under water!!
*Thick 1 and 1/2 inch elastic waistband fits snugly and securely at waist.
* Bottom of fluke opens and closes with hidden Velcro or a zipper for easy access to monofin
*Sleek, svelte design is form fitting and wrinkle free~my tails have excellent fit for all sizes
*Crystal and semi precious stone accents are each sewn on for durability
*Tail flukes can come in different styles and sizes. I am currently able to build flukes around all sizes and styles of my Aquariuz mono fins (The Explorer, the Deep Sea Cruizer, the Jellyfish, and the Shark), as well as around the popular Mahina mono fin, and also the Bodyglove Linden monofin. I do recommend my Aquariuz mono fins for the best fit in the flukes, but can also work around these other mono fin styles as well.
*A custom fabric tail is an investment, so you want to select/create a quality tail that will last at least several seasons. Things to look for when considering your fabric tail purchase are:
* chlorine resistant fabric, most importantly,
* non bouyant fabric, as its hard to swim when your tail is trying to float. While neoprene is sometimes used by some makers as a base for fabric tails, it does make swimming and ‘staying under’ more difficult. Aquariuz fabric tails are not made out of neoprene.
*swimming underwater causes great strain to fabrics, so reinforced seams, especially in high wear areas, is essential, and also a stitch that stretches with the fabric.
*A snug elasticized waistband without rumples or gathers is neccessary otherwise the tail will be falling off and rolling down while under water
* If you decide to purchase an Aquariuz mermaid tail, you can know that every tail and monofin is handmade by me, using premium quality chlorine resistant Aqualife PBT fabrics, with special attention given to strong, long lasting seams, reinforcement of edges and high wear areas, and overall beauty, craftsmanship, and durability.
*Please be advised that metallic swimwear fabrics do lose some sheen over time due to sun, chlorine, and scuffing. Reasonable and common sense use, such as rinsing your tail in cold clean water after each use, and not sliding or chaffing against swimming pool concrete or other abrasive surfaces, will help your tail stay prettier, for longer.
*Pricing: Custom tails start at about $275 (US dollars), and this would be for a basic, slim tail with minimal or no dorsal and/ or hip, etc, fins..painting on the fluke is included at this rate, and maybe a simple to medium complexity paint treatment on the upper skin...more complex tails that involve multiple paint colors, structured dorsal or hip fins, modified fluke shapes, etc, can go up to $600.. it all depends on just how much detail you want, and what your budget is. The Aquariuz Monofin is not included in this price, you must purchase your monofin separately, no matter which one you decide to use.
*I am available to answer simple questions about pricing, materials, etc, so please feel free to ask in the -Contact- section of the shop. For ladies that are serious about buying/ starting to collaborate on a design, i do ask that they purchase the $50 design deposit/ down payment ( The listing you’re on). It is absolutely applicable to the overall cost of your tail, and ensures that i get paid for time spent designing the tail with you, doing artwork, answering convos, etc...Please understand that while i love what i do, i cannot have extended conversations about design details until you have made this deposit. Once you have made the deposit/ downpayment, we can discuss all the details, fabrics, colors, etc. that you want on your tail, and i will do a final sketch so we both know how it will look. I will then set up a listing just for you that costs the total amount that we have agreed on, minus the $50 deposit you already paid. As soon as you have purchased the custom listing, i begin work on your tail, and you can expect to receive it within a few weeks. Many customers like to split the overall cost of their tail into two or three separate payments (separate listings), and pay them several weeks apart. This is absolutely fine, and just let me know if youd prefer to pay this way.
*Time turnaround: simpler tails i usually promise a 2 to 3 week turnaround time, more complex ones i like to say 3 to 4 weeks. I have been known to do the occassional rush order for a fashion emergency, but it just depends on how many orders i have due.
I look forward to making a beautiful custom tail for you!!
